Manu Chao, 原名Jose-Manuel Thomas Arthur Chao, 1961年6月21日出生于巴黎，是一位拥有西班牙血统的法国拉丁民谣歌手。
Manu Chao的父母是西班牙人，为了躲避佛朗哥独裁政权的迫害而搬到巴黎。Manu出生后，Chao一家搬到巴黎远郊居住，Manu的童年基本上就在那里度过。
Manu Chao的音乐风格多样，他使用法语、西班牙语、阿拉伯语、加里西亚语、葡萄牙语、英语和沃洛夫语(塞内加尔和冈比亚)演唱，并经常在同一首歌中混合使用。音乐受到摇滚乐、法国香颂、加勒比地区的Salsa, Reggae和Ska，以及阿尔及利亚的Rai等音乐类型的影响。他的移民背景以及Mano Negra解散后多年游走在中美洲地区是他音乐风格形成的主要原因。Manu Chao的很多歌词都是关于犹太人和外来移民的爱情和生活。Manu Chao已经是世界上销量最大的艺人之一。
