      约翰．丹佛在1971年以一曲《Take Me Home, Country road》（《乡路送我回家》）一跃成名为著名乡村音乐歌星。丹佛演唱的歌曲大部分都是自己创作的，歌曲以简单朴实，轻松随意的风格独树一帜。演唱的内容多为歌唱纯真的爱情、美好的理想、抒发怀乡之情或是带有哲理性的社会歌曲。约翰．丹佛也是中国观众最为熟悉的美国乡村歌手之一。不幸的是，丹佛已离我们而去，1997年10月他在一次飞行中不幸坠机遇难。
      Country Road是其代表作，歌曲以对西佛吉尼亚故乡的怀念为主线，追念逝去的纯真岁月：歌手正行车乡间路上，从他所居住城市到另一座城市去，要穿过这一段山路。公路两旁熟悉的景物使他感觉仿佛又踏上回乡之旅，潜藏心间的乡情油然而生，如清风徐徐。
——这是本人永远都听不腻的歌。
