关注独立音乐的朋友不知道会不会忽视加拿大的清新势力，其实当更多的朋友把注意力放在欧洲清新小厂或者美国新锐公司的时候，象加拿大这样有着丰富音乐资源的国家总是被遗忘。
这次介绍的Star便是来自多伦多的乐队最初是在纽约组建，后来回到加拿大才调整到现在的阵容。Star迄今已经发表过三张专辑，自第二张Heart开始与加拿大独立公司Arts & Crafts合作。乐队主唱Torquil Campbell除了乐队的事业，还从事影视音乐的制作，曾参与《欲望城市》等剧的原声音乐编配。
虽说乐队成员大都是New wave的追随者，但在他们的音乐里所体现的仍旧是常青的吉他流行曲风骨，当然两位主唱（男女各一）嗓音的搭配令人感觉清新而不腻滑，较之欧洲一些清新团体过于甜腻的歌声来说，Star保留了更多的力量和激情。男女双主唱是他们的标志，而加拿大烙印式的乐观主义的歌词造诣，更显示了Torquil对作词的天赋，曲风上，轻快略带飘忽的鼓点，适度的riff回旋，以及时而的电子元素，给Stars套上了一层复古的外皮。
